Omega point, as coined by French Jesuit palaeontologist and evolutionary theorist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, is the hypothesized point at which the universe will reach its ultimate, most complex and intelligent state, often referred to as the "final leap in evolution". It is characterized by the organization of all matter and energy into one globally connected network of intelligence and consciousness, thus completing the transformation of all physical matter into a single, conscious, superorganism. Though this concept has been adopted outside of scientific fields, it remains a theoretical concept in physics, biology, and neurology.
